Resource Library
We have the most extensive library of resources relative to the adoptive family
in the state! Books, videos, audio-tapes, CDs, brochures, self-study courses and more are available for loan by filling out a
form on the internet or calling toll free (1-866-803-2722).
The state’s experts on adoption and parenting have put together resources to serve adoptive families, waiting families (including foster families with a plan for adoption) and service providers.
You can visit our main library in Birmingham. It’s located at 181 West Valley Avenue,
and is open from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Mini-libraries also are located in
Region II and
Region III.
If a library visit is not convenient, check out is available by filling out a
form on the Internet. Postage and packing are included in an effort to make this service convenient and easy for you.
Library books may be checked out for 6 weeks, and videos/DVDs and
audio-tapes may be checked out for 2 weeks. If an extension is
